Honey Badger

The motivation for this site is to expose the indoctrination and injustices of our new superintendent and his administration. From $68,000 board room tables to the misappropriation of monies to hire Chinese acrobats for the unveiling of the Macon "Miracle", it is time to dispel the "Mirage".

    1. The 68k was what he spent refurbishing a new conference room including soundproofing, new furniture etc. But dont worry, in the paper they said they did it all for our comfort when we came to a meeting. I heard through a source that he had raised his voice many times in the old conference room and he was tired of it getting out. Why else would he nt it soundproofed?

      Delete
    2. Soundproof room huh?? Hmmm, what else does he not want us to hear?

    3. Why does he need to raise his voice? Furthermore, it never bothered Patterson. Dr. D. appears to be paranoid and secretive, two characteristics that betray sincerity and integrity.

  5. Thank you so much for creating this forum. I will spread the word. I taught in Bibb County for five years and I left because I could see where Dallemand's policies were leading. It was bad enough before Dallemand came, now it is untenable. Teachers all over the county, GOOD TEACHERS, are miserable and ready to walk out, paycheck be damned. The criminal elements are running the schools. NO Super would be better than this Super.

  7. There are only three possibilities. 1) Dallemand knows everything and is denying that he was kept in the loop. 2) Chief Prater told her supervisor everything and the info wasn't passed up the chain of command. 3) Chief Prater didn't tell anyone above her.

Guarantee you that Prater advised the next up the chain. Their investigator is highly qualified to conduct this investigation.

IF the ball was dropped it was at the Board office.

Like the other people that Dallemand has relieved of duty, Prater will be back. She is a qualified and competent Chief.

    2. How can the superintendent not have know of this incident by Friday? Especially an incident of this magnitude. The information was out in the system at other schools by then. Most administrators would have been IMMEDIATELY on the phone to all people involved acquiring any and all information. I understand that Dr. D.'s administrative style is to be secluded, requiring all contact (phone calls, visits, probably email) go through a "secretary" (by the way, he expects this of all his subordinate administrators, including principals)for clearance and scheduling. This could be the only reason he might not know anything.

    3. Oby Brown has all the information he needs to "sink" Dollyman. Either, he can't get the confirmations he needs or he is being "told" not to publish. My bet is that Charles E. Richardson is using his clout and the race card to prevent the truth from seeing the light of day. Charles E is part of the weekly "special" meetings between Dollyman, Albert Abrahms, Tom Hundson, etc.

Dollyman and his cronies changed the legal team structure to prevent the flow of information to the board. I'm sure that he or Judie told chief prater to handle this case in house so as to control the story. However, the information got out in front of them and someone has to pay.

The last Norteast rape case only cost the county $67000, this one will cost many times that as they don't have the same solid legal representation and they made no effort to change things they learned from the last case. Brad Wilson has the teachers ear and they will feed him all the details he needs to make his case, Especially the reinstatement of "expelled" students and the calculated effort to cook the books with regards to discipline.

      Delete
  9. Don't know if many of you realize this or not, but "downtown" has not and will not put anything in writing to give to the principals about how they are not to discipline their students. It's at principals meetings where they are threatened. At my school, both our principal and AP's have been yelled at for the discipline that they have entered into our database. BUT, if there is nothing in writing from downtown, and if a principal said to heck with them, I'm going to do what's best for my school, downtown wouldn't have a leg to stand on!!! I would not mind speaking out publicly about all of this, but I don't want my principal getting the blame.

    1. Dont put names if you dont want to but give the information to the public so we can arm ourselves. I am sure if he is doing it to your principal hes doing it to all of them

    2. He is certainly doing it to all of them. They all get told the same thing. Not to charge anyone with fighting, IF they charge them, they have to label it as disorderly conduct. Possession of CERTAIN weapons may possibly get you expelled....yes...CERTAIN. A razor blade was found on a student at my school and I believe she was only suspended for a few days....and not because our administrators didn't try. Also, Mr. Judie has his hand in denying evidentiary hearings. He is nothing but a bully too!

    3. The Macon Telegraph /macon.com are not terribly interested in providing us with actual "NEWS". It is becoming more and more obvious that they, for some reason are protecting those involved with this fiasco - The heavy handed 'moderation' of recent times is focused on removing comments that are critical of the level of coverage they are providing in regards to the NE issue... they have only recently stopped with their selective censorship, due to the massive interest this particular issue is generating AND that 13WMAZ had a 'broad' coverage of the NE rape case, including the charge-sheet.

I think we would be better served providing whatever leads to 'inside stories' to the likes of WMAZ, or even National News organizations.... remember that President Obama just released his policy announcement that mimicks that of Delleman's - under any and all circumstances - keeping students IN SCHOOL until age 18.... Use Macon, GA as a case example for what will happen Nation-Wide if implemented Nationally! ! ! ! ! ! Can you imagine the Nations' schools mirroring that of Bibb County....

Too scary and it CANNOT be allowed to happen!

  10. Thank you for this blog--- I have taught in the Bibb County School System for a number of years and NEVER have I been so ashamed to say I teach in Bibb County as I am right now!! It is a very sad day when teachers and administrators are so scared of losing their jobs - that they don't (can't) speak up about everything that is going on. From inflated "research numbers".... to the discipline records.... to the money being spent.... to the firing/hiring downtown ...and the list goes on and on. I teach because I love my students! PERIOD! I love seeing them grow - every day they give me a very real reason to smile !! If everyone AT THE TOP cared as much about the students as they say they do - they would help the teachers out with support NOT threats. Bring discipline back to the Public Schools - bring support for administrators and teachers back to the schools. These children are our future ............................... we need - all of us - to be doing what is correct for the students!!!!!!

I started a site at the end of last month also - http://mtcommenter.freeforums.org/index.php
Which was in direct opposition to the heavy-handed moderation by the MTO staff in relation to the Delleman articles especially.
If you choose to visit, please be warned - moderation is very limited, as the pro-active encouragement of "Freedom of Speech" is practiced to the fullest - so you have been warned.

We could possibly join forces and coordinate our attendance at the Feb 10 unveiling of Delleman's 'Grand Plan - The Macon Miracle' and really hammer home our message of sensible management, fair treatment of faculty staff and most importantly the safety of students...

What has transpired at NE was inexcusable and Delleman simply CANNOT run and hide, or blame others for his incompetence! The ramifications of this horrendous crime must be felt across the BoE and Delleman's own tenure.

Join Forces, make your voice heard and together we CAN previal for justice and good workplace/school ethics in principle and practice!

  14. This new welcome center has cost me my job. I was one of the 30+ registrars whose job was cut. All of us have felt like we got kicked in the stomach. Dallemand never met with us, he met with principals in June and told them that registrars would be taken out of the schools (only to decide later to dwindle that 30+ number down to 6). At that same meeting, he also told elementary school principals not to tell their registrars until they returned from summer break because at that time they had already left for the summer. How wrong is that??? Several of us begged for answers and have documentation proving this, and FINALLY in December, Dr. Pendleton held a meeting for registrars and explained that only 5 of us would get the job but that we would have first dibs at any other job that opened up in the county....well wasn't that nice of them? Not so much because not many other clerical jobs pay what registrars make! Their "open line of communication" SUCKS!!!

      Delete
    4. As of right now, it looks like the only thing these 5 will be doing is registering new students. But we did A LOT MORE than just register students. My principal may have been one to fight for us and they have taken their fair share of (for lack of a better word) beatings for it. Dallemand didn't want to hear about what our other duties were. He said that registrars are ONLY supposed to enroll and withdraw students...NOTHING ELSE. Well I've been doing the work of at least 5 people for years now and it awful to think that this man took us out of our schools. I appreciate the ones that tried fighting for us.

      Delete
    5. Well, they originally hired a tech specialist when all 40 registrars were told by Dr. Pendleton that they would ONLY hire registrars and that no one else would have a chance at one of the 5 positions. Some registrars raised cane about this tech getting it because she was not a registrar and her job was not in jeopardy. Dr. Pendleton said that we were correct and he took that person out of the 5 and hired someone else. As far as one being a bookkeeper, in elementary, she may have done bookkeeping, enrolling, withdrawing, etc. It's different at the elementary level than it is at the middle and high school level.

    6. I work at a high school. When school opens next fall, if there is no on-site registrar to manipulate schedules and graduation requirements, things are going to crumble fast.

      Delete
    7. Another problem with the Welcome Center concept is that this creates a barrier between the school and the parents. As a parent, I like to visit my child's school. I would not want to go to a registration center that is miles from my child's school. How would the staff there be able to answer my questions about what is best for my child? Furthermore, the Riverside Drive location is far from most of our neighborhoods. It will not be convenient for anyone.

    1. You are exactly right. Since coming to Macon, I have experienced racism by African-Americans to whites. I always thought that Equal Rights intended everyone to be...equal, and I always felt that was how it should be. What I have discovered is that many African-Americans view middle class values as "white", and they want no part of it. They want to be supported and excused to be exactly who they are, hence the Gangsta/Thug/Ghetto/Baby-Momma/Baby-Daddy popularity. Never would I have expected that skin color makes SUCH a difference. The power trip that many dark-skinned people go on with any attainment of position is mind-boggling.

Our city was out to get him because he was black. Please. The spending that he tired to slip by resulted in a lawsuit. He will bring in auditors to prove he is in budget. He will always look for the loophole, everything must be written out as it has to be or he disregards it. The sound proof room is so no one can hear the screaming at board members and administrators the threats of lawsuits, the accusations of racism. He loves to divide, he has his favorites who are loyal to the end. He will pull them in to the decision making and tell them what is going on. Anyone who questions he will tell nothing and threatens them with lawsuits and brings in the NAACP to help intimidate them. He is very dishonest and dangerous. He is not doing anything there that he has not done before. The women he brought with him are running the district, he is disengaged. We lost a lot of great staff and he was great at snubbing any one that he felt imtimidated by. Wait until he makes all principals empty their offices of all family pictures and any clutter. They will not be allowed to meet with parents or take phone calls that will be the secretaries job. The board will not be allowed to talk with staff or visit schools, he will dictate to all. Wait until Glen Singleton and efficacy come to town!!! Watch the budget then. GOOD LUCK I could write a book. Send someone to his past districts, now that he is gone we are more than willing to talk. 30. People of Macon, STOP TRYING TO MAKE THIS A LAW ENFORCEMENT ISSUE!!! You are being bamboozled by a professional shyster!!!

It doesn't matter who took the lead in the investigation. It could not have gone more smoothly. BOE Inv. Corey Goble, who is the LEAD detective in the case (regardless of what the MT wants you to think) has more experience than all the MPD investigators assigned put together. Yes, I am a board employee and yes, I am VERY involved in the investigation. Obviously, I have to be VERY careful about voicing my opinion and the facts I know for fear of losing my job to this ego maniac.

Folks, the Superintendant and his cronies, are using the police, both MPD and BOE, as a smoke screen in an effort to escape this debacle unscathed. Make no mistake, the rape was a direct reflection of Dallemand’s miserable failures since taking office and he is using the MPD, Chief Burns, Chief Prater and you, the public, as pawns in his grand scheme.

For the life of me I can’t understand why Burns continues to allow this man to pull his strings. I’m sure his feelings were hurt when he learned that the BOE Police are fully capable of handling their own cases. To a certain degree he is correct in stating they USED to take the lead on cases such as this, but as they NEVER signed the MOU (Memorandum of Understating) that both Chief DeCoursey and Chief Prater presented to them months ago, they really have no leg to stand on with that argument. This is why Det. Goble was hired in the first place. All that aside, the case belongs to the BOE Police, no matter what Dallemand said in his “dog and pony” conference the other day.

The REAL issue here is that flawed and insufficient discipline policies led directly to a young girl being raped. If Dallemand is not held accountable for his failures, inactions and ineptitudes, this district is doomed. The ONLY solution for the students, parents and employees of Bibb County Schools is the IMMEDIATE firing of this man and his entourage. They are destroying the system from the inside under the guise of student welfare while they ignore blatant dangers and subvert their legal obligations to ensure a safe learning environment.

The Superintendant’s primary tool if FEAR. Our principals are paralyzed by it into protecting their jobs and the teachers are brow beaten into compliance with threats of firing and even de-certification. Everyone in Macon knows an employee in the system and has heard the stories. Listen to their complaints and then multiply them tenfold. I’m sure they are tempered by professionalism and ethics which dictate they not speak ill of their district. This is a characteristic their “leader” does not share while he gets on TV and lies to the public in an effort to save his own skin and ensure future positions of influence for himself and his lackeys.

It is my sincere hope that in the coming weeks the public learns the true nature of this crime, and is exposed to the horrific acts that go unpunished EVERY DAY in our schools because of Dallemand’s policies. The extensive discipline histories of the suspects involved are extremely troubling. They even contain past sexual offenses and other warning signs about this type of behavior. My fellow Maconites, THIS is why our young girl was raped and DALLEMAND is the reason it happened. THAT is the reality of this crime. Don’t let the man cloud your eyes with smoke and mirrors about the investigation WHICH CAUGHT THE MONSTERS RESPONSIBLE!!!

    OPEN YOUR EYES MACON!!!

    1. I disagree this is a Dallemand issue only. The teacher who let the girl out of the room is also responsible. The principle who did not put policies in place or, if they were in place did not enforce them is also responsible.

Parents, good or bad, send their kids to our schools under the expectations they will be reasonably safe. That the care takers will at least take the minimum precautions to prevent harm. For a teacher to let a random boy come to the room and get a child with out any verifiation of his intentions is absurd.

When I was in high school we were not allowed in the halls with out a hall pass. Teachers didnt send students to get other students, they used the intercom system. And that was 25 years ago. How can a student go into a high school class room and get a random student and then find half a dozen other students out of class without anyone noticing?

Attendance is computerized. If you call role and a student isnt in class shouldn't you call the office to inform them? If the office knows a small gang of students is missing shouldnt someone be looking for them? They have counsler's, assistant principles, janitors, coaches, etc who could be out making sure these things dont happen.

And what happend to hall monitors? I was one when I was young. It was a privlage given as a reward to good students. Wouldnt a couple of good hall monitors have prevented this? The first thing we did after the bell rang was check the bathrooms.

The coverup is a dallemand issue but what happened in the school is system / principle / teacher issue. If you know you are not allowed to suspend behavior issues, shouldnt you be more vigilant and not less??

  31. It does not matter who is in charge. As long as there is no discipline in the school system and no direction in our students education our system is going to fail. The criminal's are running the assylum and that is why inner city schools fail. Anybody who is in the system or is married to someone in they system knows that there are just as many teachers who are the problem as there are administrators. How is it that the ability to speak engish is not a requirement to be an educator? How is it kids who get in fights are no longer suspended. How is it that kids who physically threaten educators are not expelled. Dallemand is not the problem, the system is.

Just like a computer it is a system and it works, but, someone put the designed and encrypted the programs on how it is suppose to work. My question is how is the system suppose to get better when no one is in charge to make the changes necessary to correct them. But when the whole system has been torn and picked apart and thrown away how do correct this. There is no miracle big enough to correct the damage that has already been done.

  32. I am a Macon city resident who works with a girl scout troop in the area. I do not have children of my own yet but from working with my troop it scares me some of the things that these children are not learning. One of my girls asked me a couple of weeks ago what time it was and I responded, "it's quarter of 7" (meaning it was 6:45) and she didn't know what that meant. If it was one of my 2nd or 3rd graders I could understand, but it was one of my 7th graders! I am scared for what is happening in the Bibb County School district even though I don't have any children of my own yet. Thank you for everyone who is stepping up trying to make it better. I have to say that an article on 13WMAZ's website today is rather disgusting! 34. The school climate has drastically been compromised by the control of the administrators at the BOE Office. They are doing a grave disservice to the students by creating a false sense of security in not making them responsible for their actions such as bringing knives, brass knuckles, marijuana, and physically attacking staff members. Do they not realize that once the veil of protection they have given these students when they leave the school system will be removed and that law enforcement will not handle these young adults with kid gloves when they commit a felony? Oh, it won't matter to them then because federal funds will have been paid for their attendance and our tax dollars will take care of them after the fact. It's true that all students deserve an education but those same students must make the choice to be an integral part of the learning process which starts with respect for everyone which is definitely not modeled by the leaders at the Board Office. School administrators have been bullied by Board administrators to the point that they just don't even want to make the effort even though the past events of the last week should show how afraid they are to even try. Dr. Dallemand and his "helpers" will NOT take any responsibility for at least trying to abide by Georgia law. School personnel cannot do the job they are paid to do because they are micromanaged at every turn. I have never seen morale destroyed on such a large scale in such a short period of time. Dr. D's plan would have been worth supporting if he showed that he had at least a little respect for the very people who live and work in this community and the Board members who represent them. The first step should have been to let the students know that rules are to be followed and their are consequences when they are not. Serious consequences for serious offenses not a slap on the hand and sent straight back to class. This whole thing is SO SAD......these are the students who will be our leaders in the community and they deserve the best education we can offer (academic as well as moral)

Start suspending and expelling kids behavior issues and soon they will start behaving. Sometimes you must take a short term loss for long term success! What is more important...one child our the society who supports us all?

    2. You are right on target. The privilege of an education should not be wasted on those who do not want it. An alternative farm/military/work school is worth the busing dollars. And apparently there are some less-than-half-full schools available to house such a thing.

      Delete
  35. If all of the allegations are true, then the Bibb County schools are in trouble. The fact that this is the second known sexual assault of a special-needs student is alarming. For that matter, any sexual assault of a student on school property is very alarming. I would raise questions about who is watching out for the kids with special needs in the schools. If a student is charged with a crime, then they should automatically be transferred to the alternative school. The alternative school should be set up with personnel who are trained to deal with the children and teenagers who are troubled.

Discipline is the first line of providing a safe learning environment. If it does not exist, how can a child be expected to learn if he or she is having to constantly watch their back. Much less, how can a teacher be expected to teach children if the class is unruly and the children are violent.

Would the SACS not be able to threaten the Bibb County School system with loss of their accreditation? They did intervene with several school systems where there were many disagreements between the BOE and superintendent.

Unfortunately, Dallamand is only a part of the problem in Macon. The lack of accountability is the largest problem. The elected officials do not enforce it, and the parents certainly don't understand the concept. How is a young person to learn how to act responsibly if there is an excuse for everything? However, we can not re-train the parents who absolutely will not hold their child responsible for their bad behavior.

I really do believe that the national news would love to have the latest story featuring the thugs of Macon. Has anyone contacted Erik Erickson to try to use his contacts to bring the national media to town. Nancy Grace would love the story about thugs and the response of the BOE. We should all make calls to CNN and Fox News about this story. Personally, I hope that the child who was assaulted is receiving professional help and that her parents will move her to another school, preferably one that is not part of the Bibb County system. We should all say a prayer for that poor child.

I am thankful that Dr. D has interest in shaping the young minds in Bibb County, but I must ask “Does this man and his crew really care?” My observation is NO. If they do care they would care about the employees as well. It breaks my heart to see GREAT teachers stressed and weakened by the dictator that is now leading our school system. He and his cabinet members meet at a different school every Tuesday. I wonder what he sees. Does he see behind the façade that the principal has created for his benefit? Does he care? Once again my observation is NO. I can say I loved my job, I loved what I did and I felt like I was making a difference by encouraging the teachers to teach beyond a text book. However it is hard to work in an environment not knowing if I will have a job next year. It is hard working in an environment that is so unsettled. I fear that I and several teachers in the Bibb County school system will be collateral damage. I hope that I am wrong.

All of his PowerPoint slides that show how bad things are so he can get everyone to see how much this miracle is needed are recycled from Rochester.

This man has spent God only knows how much money on strategic planning sessions and is getting a ridiculously high salary for nothing! He has given the community the illusion of participating in planning this "miracle", but he knows exactly what he wants to do here, because he's done it all before.

At one of the last staff meetings I sat in on (yes, I am a Bibb County teacher), the principal went out his way to state very clearly that this is not Dallemand's plan, this is "our" plan. This way when it fails, Dallemand can remind everyone of how he didn't create this plan, this was what the teachers and the parents, and the "faith-based community" (love that one) came up with.

  50. I'll preface this with Honey Badger's claim that this blog will NOT be censored, that we have a right to say what we feel. And that everyone was forewarned.

I am one of those so-called "campus security" people. If you idiots that are not employed in a high school or middle school then you haven't a fucking clue about what goes on. We are below our minimal manning. Just like MPD and BSO we CANNOT be everywhere at all times. Crimes happen and we respond. We can barely fulfill our duties. Schools are left unattended by us at times just so you have a "traffic cop" at a school so you're not inconvenienced trying to pick up your precious child. We have to tolerate the students that have no home training from parents that ALSO had no home training. Every time we transport a "child" to the LEC or YDC that is an officer that is NOT in your child's school for at least an hour. Every time there's a fight in a school that takes an officer out of the hallways monitoring the school. Every time there's a fender-bender at a school that takes an officer away from their primary duties. Every time there's a BULLSHIT report of a student in possession of drugs or weapons that takes the officer away.

We get very little respect from the students in our schools. They don't think we're "real" cops. They soon find out differently when they're in jail.

The officers in our department had prior service in the Macon Police Dept, the Bibb Sheriff's Dept, various other law enforcement agencies and the military. We are FULLY qualified to provide a POLICE presence in our schools and respond to ANY situation.

We are mentors and teachers to the students in our care. We genuinely care about our students. And that sets us apart from your typical "hard-nosed" cop that's on the streets. That is NOT to say that we don't do what needs to be done when the situation arises.

This post is not meant to minimalize any school employee's duties or career. It is my belief that EVERY BOE employee has the good intention of seeing that EVERY Bibb student is successful in school and in life. But that student MUST want to be successful.

To anyone that wants to bad-mouth the Bibb County Board of Education Campus Police Department or its officers I say to you.....join us. IF you have the GUTS AND COURAGE to do so.

      read on from WMAZ 13:
The lawyer for former Bibb Schools interim police chief Stephanie Prater said Thursday she kept the superintendent's leadership team regularly informed about her unit's investigation of a reported rape at Northeast High School.

On Tuesday, Superintendent Romain Dallemand told reporters he had been unaware until Monday -- 11 days after the alleged rape -- that campus police had not turned the investigation over to the Macon Police Department.

Dallemand said he learned that Prater made the decision to keep jurisdiction of the case and he had turned it over to Macon police.

Prater's lawyer Charles Cox told 13WMAZ's Brittiny Barber that Prater reported to the superintendent's leadership team throughout the campus police investigation.

Cox said he believes Prater will be reinstated when all the facts come out. He said Prater is being paid while on administrative leave.

Cox said that, as far as he knows, the district did not conduct an investigation before suspending Prater Tuesday.

Brittiny Barber also spoke to Prater's father at his Lizella home on Thursday.

He said she's been with Bibb County Campus Police for about 15 years. Before that she worked in law enforcement in Baldwin County and in the Air Force.

He says he has no doubt she handled the rape investigation appropriately.

Her father -- who would not give his full name -- said Prater is a professional and ethical person, and nothing she's accused of will hold up. He said she followed district procedure during the investigation.

Macon police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said police Major Charles Stone met with a prosecutor and a campus police investigator on Wednesday and Thursday to review the case.

Gaudet said the campus police investigative file has to be transcribed because the computer systems of campus police and Macon police were not compatible.

Just imagine - 4000 employes at 2 meetings that lasted 8 hours each, plus another meeting for 4 hours (Feb 10), plus bus transportation, plus facility rental, plus consultant fees, plus the COUNTLESS man hourse spent preparing, plus the entire year spent focused on some solutions to problems that he now says will take generations to correct (when we really need to be helping the students we have TODAY)

      Delete
    6. Your next to the last paragraph says it all. It was suggested to Dallemand during his initial data-collecting visits that there is an enormous need to get students to take ownership of their educations and future. On-the-spot he exposed himself by rejecting that notion by saying it is the teacher's responsibility to break through whatever barrier exists for that student. You know the saying, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

He has fired several emoloyees and had to rehire them and the trend is continuing with the NE security officer. This is not indicative of a great leader, rather one who wants a place to lay the blame elsewhere. Also, I think Dr.Dallemand actions not supporting teachers inforcement of discipline by suspension is to better statistics rather than better the educational envirionment in the class room. Teachers need a hell of a lot more support from the top since they are attacked constantly from students and parents. Teachers/principals are frontline leadership and failure to support their decisions regarding discipline is leadership failure by Dr.Dallemand.

  58. The problem with Dallemand starts with his elitist attitude. It started as soon as he hit Macon. From the new furniture that wasn't really needed to the ridiculous 15 reserved parking spaces for him and his dream team in the city lot, it smacks of privilege. Several of those dream team members have not even bothered to get a GEORGIA license plate. They are still parking in Dalle's reserved spots with Washington, Minnesota and Kansas license plates. Give me a break - you are required to get a GEORGIA plate 30 days after relocating here. So we have lawbreakers on the dream team.

Dalle has insulated himself so that he doesn't even know what is going on at the schools (including the rape at NE). Apparently, he is not accessible to the little people that run the schools. If it's true that he spent taxpayer dollars on Acrobats for his presentation, he should be fired on the spot. Mandarin chinese??? Nice thought, but please concentrate on English for the majority of our students. And if foreign languages are needed, look at the demographics of Georgia, and you will quickly see that we need Spanish education. Unless our students are going to relocate to China, his plan is just stupid and a waste of money.

My fear is that few of them read these things, believing all are simply inflammatory just for the sake of being ugly. Fortunately most here have kept it factual and inquisitive. These facts need to be verified and these questions need to be asked.

  63. Paradoxically he promotes racism and stereotyping through beliefs such as "White talk” is “verbal, impersonal, intellectual” and “task-oriented,” while “color commentary” is “nonverbal, personal, emotional” and “process-oriented.”

    3. He defines cultural racism as "Those aspects of society that overtly and covertly attribute value and normality to white people and Whiteness...Examples of these norms include defining having a future time orientation, emphasizing individualism as opposed to a more collective ideology...and identifying only Whites as great writers or composers.

    4. Presenting baseless beliefs like "Asians are majority students" who only do better because "of the high expectations of their white teachers."

    5. His seminar states that: “anger, guilt and shame are just a few of the emotions” whites should expect to experience “as they move toward greater understanding of Whiteness.”

    4. White Bibb County Schools employees better get ready to apologize for their race. Efficacy implies white people keep black students down. Of course, the schools in Bibb County that are predominately black have predominately black teachers. Are those the most successful schools? I am referring to raw achievement, not the AYP hype. The most successful schools in Bibb County have predominately white students and staff, and I would guess that the black and white performance gap is the smallest. Is it due to race? NO. As Dallemand's speaker at the first "strategic planning" meeting said, it was his mother that made the difference between him and the rest of his friends and their success vs. incarceration and/or death.

    5. Yes - the educational attainment of the mother is the truest predictor of a student's success. See the terrific book, Freakonomics - written by a Harvard economist, which discusses valid statistical research in terms most anyone can understand. Bibb county...not so much!

I discovered today that principals are discouraged from letting teachers off to go to the Board Meeting tomorrow...stating that "they will get to hear the plan on the 10th."

Principals are afraid, teachers are afraid. Parents and students are running to private schools in droves.

Thug students and parents are beginning to realize that they have the upper hand and are now behaving terribly...all the way down to elementary schools.

Our office referrals are sent back to us for us to "make sure" they need to be referred.

  65. Yeah also heard they are tracking your referrals and teachers who have "a lot" will be seen as having poor classroom management, when in fact, it real means you're on top of your class and trying to get the lessons actually taught without disruption. Be careful you don't get on the Repeat Referral Teacher List

Sink him with FACTS and honest observations. If we show some class, less of our posts will get deleted. This doesn't apply to everyone, but some tend to let their emotions get the best of them while posting replies and this hurts us.

  67. Okay, I think that everyone should start to call the BOE members every day until they pull their heads out of the sand. Teachers may be afraid to vocalize their opinions. However, we as taxpayers, can speak loud and in large numbers. Publish the home, work and cell phone numbers of every single board member. Parents should start knocking on Dallemand's door. Overwhelm the gatekeeper with a planned procession of parents who want to personally speak with Dallemand. He can only hide for so long before someone sees him face to face. Let's take up for the teacher and let our voices be heard.

    1. Gdoe (georgia department of education)website reports these on their pages. 2009-2010 was around 46% if I recall correctly. It also shows a DISGUSTING report that Bibb students are failing standardized CRCT test at TWICE the rate of Georgia as a whole, and GA is awful in comparison to the nation. So basically our drop out rate and test scores in Bibb County makes us almost the worst or the worst.....disclaimer I personally do not like the current student achievement evaluation methods, but its all we have right now.

Judge hears arguments in school district whistle-blower suit

    The Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN

A whistle-blower lawsuit filed by a former Rochester School District employee has been taken under advisement by an Olmsted County District Court judge.

Both the district and former finance director Cheryl Coryea have sought summary judgment, with each side asking Judge Joseph Chase to rule in their favor before the civil case goes to a jury trial. Attorneys delivered their arguments in court on Thursday.

Coryea, who is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for wrongful discharge and wrongful retaliation, alleges that former Superintendent Romain Dallemand fired her in 2008 because of concerns she raised about purchases, including a $4,600 glass-topped desk for Dallemand's office. The district has denied all allegations.

Coryea's attorney, Todd Johnson, said Thursday that Dallemand criticized Coryea's job performance after a Nov. 1, 2007, email in which Coryea raised concerns about Dallemand's use of a district credit card.

Coryea discovered alleged misuse of the card by Dallemand including excessive charges for meals and the purchase of a GPS unit, Johnson said. In total, he said, she discovered "multiple illegalities stretching into the thousands of dollars."

Johnson said the purchases violated the "public purpose doctrine" and weren't documented according to standard auditing guidelines. The district's attorney, Marnie DeWall, disputed that any illegal charges were made.

"I still have not heard what law was violated by Mr. Dallemand's use of the P-card (district credit card)," she said.

One issue debated Thursday was the extent to which Coryea tried to warn Dallemand about his use of the card in a Nov. 1, 2007, email.

Johnson argued that the email was an example of protected behavior under Minnesota's whistle-blower statute. DeWall, on the other hand, argued that the email wasn't intended to expose alleged illegality, but rather discussed how expenses should be documented.

Attorneys on both sides offered sharply contrasting accounts about why months passed in 2007 without the glass-topped desk being delivered to Dallemand's office.

Arguing Coryea's side, Johnson alleged that the desk hadn't been delivered to Dallemand's office because he was trying to distance himself from the desk after its cost was made public and raised controversy.

Arguing the district's side, DeWall said that the desk had not been delivered because a date needed to be found when Dallemand was out of town so the current desk could be moved out and the new desk could be moved in without disrupting his work.

"That was the only reason for the delay," she said.

Johnson said Coryea refused to sign off on the purchase of the desk because it hadn't been delivered, telling a school board member on Jan. 3 that it was illegal to use district funds for items not used in school operations. Dallemand fired Coryea the next day out of retaliation, Johnson alleged.

DeWall said Coryea had no basis to assume that the desk would never be brought to the district. It was delivered and is still in the superintendent's office, she said. Dallemand is now the superintendent of Bibb County School District in Macon, Ga.

Coryea's lawsuit was first filed in 2009, when Olmsted County District Court Judge Jodi Williamson dismissed her whistle-blower and discrimination claims.

The Minnesota Court of Appeals partially overturned that ruling in 2010, however, upholding dismissal of the discrimination claims but returning the whistle-blower claims to Olmsted County District Court.

It isn't clear when Chase will rule on the pretrial motions; the lawsuit is scheduled for a jury trial on April 16.

  77. At some point in the near future we will all be appalled at the true “cost” associated with the BOE’s poor decision making. Our losses won’t be only monetary, but also in employee moral, reputation and most important of all the quality of our children’s education and their safety
Poor decision making began when the BOE chose to select a candidate whose educational back ground and track record were inferior to other candidates. He was chosen because he had a more compelling narrative, make no mistake, Dr. Dallemand has spent a life time crafting his personal story into one that is the quintessential “American Dream” for those from a disadvantaged background. However, like most good stories, his has elements of fiction, in fact; he has an alleged history of less than ethical behavior, as evidenced by ongoing lawsuits in Minnesota.
Dr. Dallemand and the BOE have chosen to send our tax dollars out of the county and in some cases out of the state, despite excellent professional services available locally. Dr. Dallemand has chosen to expend more money than ever before on his fiscal budgets. Chosen to spend money on renovations and welcome centers during the worst economic times in decades. We have only begun to scratch the surface on these costs; there are rumors of “special secret” bonuses paid to his new command staff, rumors of county funds being used to further the education of the command staff, excessive travel for “professional development”. Lawsuits against the district are piling up……how much will it cost to try or settle these cases?
So, costs are up, moral is down and our children’s safety and quality of education is at risk…..We may need a MIRACLE in the end.

  78. This was in the Macon Telegraph this morning as part of Erick Erickson's column. I wonder if this is true about Dallemand trying to become Gingrich's secretary of education.

The socio-economic growth of certain classes of people will soon start taking another toll in our economy. A report in Newsweek’s Daily Beast the other day reported an increasing number of upper income, highly educated, secularist, left-leaning families are pulling their children out of schools to home-school them. Maybe that is why Superintendent Romain Dallemand is rumored to have joined the Gingrich traveling roadshow, telling people he will become Gingrich’s secretary of education -- there’s a reason Democrats should support Gingrich right there. He was in South Carolina with the candidate and I hear Florida, too.

What do you think would happen in our schools if 25% of the teachers did not show up for work tomorrow. That means that a class with 32 students will now have 42 students. Think about it!

Please come to the meeting on Friday, February 4th and shut this man down. The time for action is now. Protest at the event. Shut down the circus once and for all before he destroys the entire school system. Alert as many members of the media as possible. If you protest in the thousands, you better beleive it will gain national media attention. We cannot do this ourselves, or we gladly would. Don't wait for your friends and neightbors to take care of this for you. Get everyone you can and save what is left of our schools now before it is too late!!!!
